Your Audience ISN’T Everyone

Your product or service might be able to be enjoyed by the majority of people but that doesn’t mean that everyone is your audience. It actually hinders your marketing to think that way.

While you’re trying to create content that appeals to everyone, other people are targeting their IDEAL customers and seeing more success than your vague marketing.

“But my product IS for everyone.”

That’s what we hear so many people say.

Yes, your product has the ability to appeal to a wide demographic, you still should have a target customer in mind and you should design a marketing strategy around them, their likes, interests, and so on.

A Gen Z audience isn’t going to be as receptive to the marketing of a Boomer audience. This holds true for most audience types.

“But what if we made content for each type of audience we’re going for?”

Then you’re going to be overloading yourself and your budget.

One piece of content generally is not enough to sway someone to buy your product or service.

You have to have several touches with most people before they even consider your offer.

Can you imagine creating several pieces of content for every single audience type? Different interests, ages, expertise, etc.

“But I need my content to show up in front of more people”

If your content is good and your target audience is engaging with it, it will reach audiences beyond them. That’s the main reason for targeted marketing.

Yes, it will take time and effort to learn your audience and get the engagement you’re looking for but it will pay off in the end if you keep up with it.

So, when you’re creating your marketing strategy, remember that a brand doesn’t focus its marketing toward everyone. They create for their ideal customer and create follow-up content based on what their audience engages with.
