3 Social Media Features That Will Earn You Money

Platforms are always adding new features, hoping to get people to stay on their app longer. But many of those features aren’t designed to help you make more money. Instead, they take up more of your time and lower your earnings.

Getting distracted by shiny new features is exactly what platforms like Instagram and TikTok want. They’re hoping that you’ll spend a large amount of time trying to implement them into your workflow.

Eventually, these features start to fade when people realize they’ve spent more time trying to understand them rather than using them effectively.

When you’re evaluating features to use in promoting your product or service, you need to think beyond how the average person is using them. Consider whether these can be used to funnel your customers to your offer in a simple yet successful way.

If it’s going to take hours of your time, even after getting acclimated to the feature to produce quality content with a good ROI, then it’s not worth your time.

Read that again.

It isn’t saying to try it once and then toss it to the side when it doesn’t work. New features often won’t get you traction when you start to use them, because you have to LEARN first.

Different businesses will use features in different ways, but we’ve come across 3 features that will earn you money if you can tailor it to your product or service.

LinkedIn Newsletters

This is arguably our favorite feature because of the potential reach and its ability to fit into your marketing plan.

Yes, it includes writing articles, but it’s a great way to share information about your industry and link it to your offer. This is where having a strong CTA will be important.

This feature is more time consuming than the others on this list but the ROI potential is the main reason it’s here. Not everyone is great at writing, but the learning curve is well worth it and the skills gained can be used beyond newsletters.

The main barrier to getting your newsletter started is:

▶️ More than 150 followers and/or connections.

▶️ Recent shares of original content.

▶️ A history of abiding by the Professional Community Policies and a good record on LinkedIn.

If you use LinkedIn regularly this might not be a huge issue, but if you’re just getting started on the platform then you may find yourself slowly working your way to the 150 followers and/or connections.

Don’t give up because of these requirements. Even if the newsletter ends up not being for you, the worst that can happen is that you made some new connections and contributed some content.

Instagram Broadcast Channels

When this feature rolled out, everyone was just sharing the same content that they were posting to their feed. Heck, some people still do.

That strategy could make it more likely that the content will show up to your followers (as long as they’ve joined your channel) but it isn’t the most effective use.

If you think of Broadcast Channels almost like an email list, you’ll have a better idea of how you can use this feature.

This is an opportunity to remove some of the social distractions and share updates about your products, services, launches, etc. You can even direct people to your content on other platforms.

You could also post polls for your audience or share exclusive behind the scenes content.

This feature is definitely designed for nurturing your current audience but you can funnel people to your Broadcast Channel with a CTA on your regular posts.

YouTube Posts

It probably sounds stupid to do regular posts on YouTube, but if you have eye-catching visuals and a good hook, it can work just as well for you as it does on any platform. Plus, the reach of YouTube is what makes this so appealing.

You could use this as a way to repurpose content that you would use for other platforms, break down what’s in your videos, or even promote your upcoming content.

This feature also helps you to nurture your current following and also provides a way to keep delivering content between your video uploads. This is great, especially if you’re not a 24/7 video creator. You’ll still pop up on people’s feeds, keeping your channel at the forefront.

This list isn’t all-inclusive of social media features and how they can be used but we’ve given you a few that have great potential for a variety of people.

By tailoring these to your industry and offer, you could see some incredible results that will earn you more money.
